A Johor Bahru homestay operator's Instagram tour showed a guesthouse left spotless after a Singaporean group checked out, though a later video told a different story.
The video that started it
A Johor Bahru homestay operator known online as Xiaoge posted an Instagram tour on August 31 of one of his guesthouses after a group of Singaporean guests checked out. The front porch and living room looked untouched, as though no one had stayed there at all.
The clip fed into a familiar reputation: Singaporean tourists are often credited with tidying up after themselves and avoiding litter, habits that stand out to hosts across the Causeway.
A less flattering follow-up
The picture was not universal. In a second video posted on September 17, the same operator showed another group of Singaporean guests leaving the property in a rougher state, with spilled car petrol on the porch, beer cans and glass bottles scattered around, and open bags of chips left on tabletops.

Read together, the two videos are less a verdict on any one nationality's habits than a reminder that guest behaviour varies group to group, however strong a country's general reputation.
