Flash Floods Hit Bukit Timah as Heavy Rain Sweeps Singapore
PUB issued a string of flash flood advisories across the island on 22 September, with Coronation Road and King's Road in Bukit Timah among the areas affected.
Heavy rain, multiple alerts
Singapore's national water agency PUB warned of heavy rain over many parts of the island between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on 22 September, and issued a run of flash flood risk advisories through the afternoon. Areas flagged included the junction of Gul Circle and Gul Avenue and the junction of Craig Road and Tanjong Pagar Road.
Bukit Timah among the worst hit
Flash floods were reported at two locations in Bukit Timah: Coronation Road, between Prince Road and Bukit Timah Road, and King's Road. The public was advised to avoid the affected stretches while waters were high.
Waters subside
PUB later said flood waters had subsided at both Bukit Timah locations, in line with the short, intense downpours that typically drive flash flooding in the low-lying areas around the district.
